Project Title: RS/6000 Integration Services

Project Summary:


Provided systems integration services to IBM in support of their contract with the National Science Foundation.

role is:

1. To modify the RS/6000-7015 to accept a Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI), T-386, T-1, and Ethernet cards.

2. Assemble and cable T-1/56kb racks including multiprotocol network server(RS-232, RS-449, V.35), 16 slot Data Storage Unit(DSU) shelf and eight Advanced Channel Service Units(ASCU's) which serve as an interface between the user's Data Terminal Equipment(DTE) and 1.544mbps digital link. Also installed two Ethernet transceivers connected to an Ethernet port on the network server in the rack.

3. Conduct tests consisting of connecting to a Power Server 320, running AIX Version 3 with a T-1 card and checking all interconnecting cables, terminal blocks and RJ48 panels.

4. Assist IBM's Network Managers in the duplication of reported problems, isolating problems and develop solutions/fixes.
