Project Summary:


The DTS Contract was originated to provide an integrated telecommunications Network that provides high quality, flexible, responsive, user-oriented voice and data Communications for The Department of Treasury and it's Bureau's located within the Washington D.C. metro area. DTS also provides management and operation of digital (integrated voice/data) telecommunications services; systems capability and technical assistance for Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) applications; Audio Response Unites (ARU); videoconferencing; as well as high speed network connectivity and direct access to Treasury's Voice Messaging Systems (VMS) contract.

DTS service is provided by Lucent Technologies. It is a computerized switching system that uses a computer based telecommunications management system (ICE-9) to provide fully redundant telecommunications services.

Moja under the DTS Program has the responsibility to provide the following services to the Department of the Treasury and its bureaus:

System Management Network Supervision Center (SMNSC) Management

Provisioning

Security reviews are conducted on each additional new site and system after cutover to ensure that DTS remains in compliance with security regulations. Major risk factors include: availability, vulnerability of the computer system and penetration; vulnerability to physical intrusion and disaster recovery. Annual Computer Security reviews are preformed to ensure that the computer systems are secure from accidental or deliberate penetration, and that they follow strict system backup procedures to guard against a system failure.
